General Terms and Conditions

1. General

This website is operated by travelwindow AG with the head office in Zurich (Switzerland). Travelwindow is a subsidiary of the internationally active Hotelplan AG, which in turn belongs to the Federation of Migros Co-operatives.

2. Payments

On principle airline tickets will only be issued against advance payment. You can either pay by postal transfer or credit card. Since a postal transfer usually takes a few days to clear, we generally require bookings made within 7 days prior to departure to be paid by credit card.

3. Due date

All airline tickets and last-minute trips are payable immediately (resp. within 7 days). If these terms of payment are not meet, TRAVELWINDOW reserves the right to charge a fine of CHF 35 for each 7 days that the customer is in default of payment.

4. Ticket dispatch

On principle, airline tickets are issued in the form of "E-tickets" (Electronic tickets). Should the customer explicitly require a paper ticket, even though it is possible to issue an E-ticket, an additional charge of between CHF 50 and CHF 80 will be levied per ticket (depending on the airline). The paper airline tickets will be sent by priority mail or deposited at the airport check-in desk in Zurich-Kloten. Tickets are always issued immediately.

5. Cancellations and changes in bookings

Airline tickets are generally subject to special cancellation and booking change conditions. Depending on the air fare, the fees for canceling or changing bookings can be up to 100% of the air fare. This applies in particular in the case of low air fares, tickets for flights within Europe and domestic tickets. These conditions are displayed when booking online and can be found on our invoice.

In the case of ticket cancellations the airline will charge a cancellation fee of between 30% and 100% of the ticket price depending on the air fare. TRAVELWINDOW will also charge a cancellation service fee (= Service Fee) of CHF 150 per ticket (not covered by travel cancellation insurance). Changing travel data or rerouting is deemed to constitute a cancellation by most airlines. This same applies to changes of name, since airline tickets are on principle issued for a single person and are non-transferable.

In the event that you are unable to make the trip, you must inform TRAVELWINDOW GmbH thereof in writing. Cancellation fees are calculated depending on the date of receipt (during office opening times) of notice of cancellation.

Please note that in the event of cancellation, TRAVELWINDOW will only reimburse any payments once the funds have been received from the airline. This generally takes between 2 and 4 weeks, but with some airlines it may even take several months.

6. Insurance

You can protect yourself against these costs by taking our travel cancellation insurance. However, such insurance only covers cancellation fees if you were unable to make your journey owing to illness or accident either on your part or that of a close relative. We would be glad to inform you of the available insurance options.

7. Liability

Once we receive your written online booking or telephone booking, you will be deemed to have issued TRAVELWINDOW AG with a binding order to place the respective booking with the airline or tour organizer. This gives rise to certain rights and obligations on your part and that of TRAVELWINDOW AG. TRAVELWINDOW acts purely as a broker between you as the customer and the airline or tour organizer. Accordingly, a transport agreement comes about between the traveler and the airline. Possible claims resulting from non-performance of this agreement should be lodged directly against the airline. Flight schedules are subject to changes at any time without prior notice.

8. Travel documents / Vaccinations

On principle, customers are responsible for ensuring that they have all the necessary travel documents (passport and if necessary visa) required to travel to the country of destination. The overseas diplomatic missions in Switzerland will provide the relevant information (addresses at www.travel.ch/visa).The same applies to recommended or mandatory vaccinations. You will find information on this at www.safetravel.ch or by contacting your local specialist for tropical diseases.

9. Fare guarantee

Owing to the wide range of fares available, it is possible that some extremely low-price air fares are only available on certain flight numbers or on certain dates. In the case of bookings made online, this is only partly evident in the system. On principle, air fares only become binding once the invoice has been issued / following confirmation by TRAVELWINDOW. For this reason, we cannot accept any responsibility for fares published online or for the confirmation emails that are sent automatically.

10. Taxes and fees

Please note that airport taxes and a separate service fee of between CHF 45 and CHF 150 will be charged per ticket in addition to the fares offered in the system. Swiss airport taxes currently stand at CHF 36. Foreign airport taxes vary considerably from one country to the next and can amount to anywhere between CHF 50 and CHF 350 or more.

11. Applicable law

These Terms and Conditions are an integral part of your booking. The place of jurisdiction is Zurich. Last revised in February 2005.
